Interested in getting involved with The Necessary Stage?

Come volunteer with us! You can indicate which areas you're interested in getting involved in and we'll try our best to accomodate you. No prior experience in theatre is required for some responsibilities and timings can be flexible. We even provide training for volunteers who have been with us for a significant period of time.

We also accept interns based on objectives/outcomes of the internship, areas of study, as well as period and duration of the internship.

Date Job / Internship Title Job Description
01 Jan 1970 Fringe Volunteers The M1 Singapore Fringe Festival 2020, themed ‘My Country and My People’, will take place from 8 – 19 January 2020 at various venues. Starting in November, we will be calling for volunteers to assist in the various positions of the festival such as:

1. Front of House Volunteers
2. Artist Liaison Officers
3. Production Volunteers

1) Front of House Volunteers: Front of House Volunteers are required to assist with setting up the Front of House table, distributing festival collaterals, as well as ushering audiences inside the theatre. The Front of House Volunteers will also need to collate the statistics from the filled feedback forms and promote our programmes to audiences.

2) Artist Liaison Officers: Artist Liaison Officers should be able to commit to the artist(s) they are attached to throughout the duration of the artist’s stay. Artist Liaison Officers will receive international artists from Changi International Airport to hand them the welcome kit and bring the artists/guests to their hotel. Artist Liaison Officers should also facilitate transport arrangements and accompany the artist(s) from their hotel to the performance venues on rehearsal and performance dates, when necessary, as well as provide information on Singapore tourist attractions. The Artist Liaison Officers are the main point of contact for the artists and are to act as the liaison between them and The M1 Singapore Fringe Festival on all official and emergency matters.

Artist Liaison Officers should be:
Knowledgeable about Singapore and the Festival
Responsible and reliable
Have a pleasant personality and disposition
Good interpersonal and communication skills
Able to accept a flexible working schedule
*It will be an added bonus if the volunteer can speak a 3rd language

3) Production Volunteers: Production Volunteers will be assisting in the production and the technical aspects of the performances and exhibitions of the Festival, including set-up, rehearsals, tear down and any other related production and technical duties required by the Festival and its coordinators.

Production Volunteer candidates will need to have prior experience working in productions and need to commit full days from end December 2014 to end January 2015.

Letters of Participation will be issued to all students upon request.
